Quick bedroom refresh on a budget

thebloomstudio

It doesn't have to cost a lot to look beautiful!

How many times have you scrolled through pinterest only to realize that your taste is a lot bigger than your wallet? Yea, me too, I've been there. BUT, the amazing thing that I have learned is that your wallet does not need to determine your taste! Or even the quality of your home!

If you have the eye for design, and a paintbrush, then with a small budget, a little bit of time, and a lot of creativity, YOU can refresh your space and bring some fresh life to your home!

Here is a quick guide to how I refreshed this bedroom for under $200 (not including all the painting supplies, rollers, brushes, tape, tarp, etc....)

My first tip is to always, always, shop your house! Take inventory of what you already have so that you don't needlessly buy supplies that are already in your garage!

1. Paint: I used Behr premium plus paint and primer. 2 coats was all that I needed to get a perfect shade that I was looking for. It took me about 2 hours to tape, cut, and paint the first coat. I love a good paint job where I can just zone out for a little bit, put on a Nateland podcast, and stop for snacks every 5 minutes. After it dried, It took me about 30 minutes to apply the second coat. And man, the color turned out amazing! I love second coats!!

Total cost for the paint was around $40

2. Curtains: After the painting was done, It was time to hang up the curtain rods, and curtains. I love these white linen sheers from Amazon. They are only $19 for 2 panels, we needed four, so we ended up spending about another $40 for the curtains. (When I say we, I am talking about my sister, who is my wing woman, and it also happened to be her bedroom, she's the best and also has great taste) Link below.

3. Bedspread: This was another Amazon find for only $30! Please, I beg of you, do not judge my design ability on the wrinkly bedspread. My time was running out before traffic would hit on the way home, so some minor details were spared in order to get home on time. But, this duvet set is amazing, super soft, and long enough on both sides so that no fighting over the blanket is needed! Link below.

4. Accessories: We hit up Dollar General, and some discount Target shops to find the plate chargers (which make for some amazing statement walls!) We spent less then $10 for all 5 of them.

5. Pillows: The pillows turned out to be the most expensive part of the whole room! Imagine that! I did find some awesome finds at my local target discount store, I bought 3 pillows for $11 there, and then went to the real Target to buy the other three. Call me crazy, but I am one of those people that will most definitely spend $30 on a good quality pillow. To me, it is one of the focal points that make or break the mood of the room. I am also one of the crazy pillow ladies who likes to have about 35 throw pillows on her bed, only to toss them all off unto the floor at night. And yes, I do enjoy arranging them on my bed again every morning. So all in all I spent $70 on these throw pillows.

So everything totaled up turned out to be around $190 for this bedroom refresh!

I am still kicking myself for not taking before pictures, but here is the final results of the 7 hour $190 bedroom makeover!
